What is BDSM ?
BDSM encompasses a number of
sexual behaviors and over the years this list has grown
quite long to include many sexual provocative
activities, however almost all of these activities fall
in to three main behaviors that define the term BDSM. They are :
Bondage and Discipline (B&D) = BD Dominance and Submission (D/s,) = DS Sadism and Masochism, Sadomasochism (S/M, S&M) = SM By putting together
all of the abbreviations in a mathematical type formula, we get BD+DS+SM = BDSM. It should be noted that an interest in just one of these areas does not mean a person is into
all aspects of BDSM. A person can have an interest in bondage, but that does not automatically mean they are interested in dominance and submission or sadomasochism.Likewise, a person can have an interest in sadomasochism, without having an interest in bondage or discipline.
However many of the same sex toys are used in many type of areas. For
example, you might use a whip if you are into bondage and discipline or if
you are just into sadomasochism or you might need a collar for your bondage
and discipline play, hence a bondage collar. But you might also need a
collar if your into dominance and submission, in which case it would be
considered a slave collar or submissive collar.
Sometimes
you will see or hear of BDSM being referred to as a
lifestyle. For some, they do live a BDSM Lifestyle all
the time, however for a vast number of people, BDSM is
not a lifestyle, but rather an intimate activity that
they may participate in just a time or two a month.
Often this is described a scene, in which for a short
period of time, they participate in BDSM activities with
one of more partners.
It should
also be noted that BDSM does not always involve sex.
Some people like to engage in S&M strictly as an
activity to relive stress. Some men will seek out a
professional Mistress or Dominatrix simple for a few
hours of enjoyment being dominated by them. Remember, what ever you are into, keep it safe, sane and consensual (SSC)
